For Students

Are you a student? We've set up a secure online space to explore the exhibition, artists and its themes. Share your thoughts, ideas and interact with the Biennale and other students from around the world!

Biennale Students Collaborize is a secure online space designed to engage the digital natives of our younger generation with high calibre, click-friendly resources. For use in the classroom or by students on their own, it offers a space for discussion of the exhibition’s key concepts with other students from around Australia and the world.  This space is regularly monitored for student security.

THE 8X8 PROJECT

16 art students // 3 days = 1 AWESOME CHALLENGE

8×8 will be open to the public Monday–Sunday 10am – 5pm from 20 July–28 August.

FREE
Eight art college students from Sydney College for the Arts and the National Art School join forces with eight aspiring artists from South West Sydney high schools. Together, with Biennale of Sydney artists, they’ve embarked on an adrenalin-filled creative challenge – to conceive, develop, install and open an exhibition of their own at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre in just three days.

Drawing on local stories, shared experience, and connections between people and place, 8×8 is a project infused with the spirit of collaboration and inspired by the theme of the 18th Biennale of Sydney: all our relations.

The outcome of 8×8 can be experienced by members of the public at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre from 20 July–28 August 2012 and will include a series of talks, performances and other happenings created by the young participants on each Saturday from 2.00-4.00pm

Developed in collaboration with the Biennale of Sydney, Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia.

Presented at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre.
