Visiting the Biennale of Sydney
Is there an entry fee to go to the Biennale of Sydney?
Entry to the Biennale of Sydney is completely free, thanks to the support of our many partners. We’ve also provided a Biennale Free Ferry Service to get you to Cockatoo Island for free too!
How do I get to Cockatoo Island?
There are a number of ways to get to Cockatoo Island – the Biennale Free Ferry, Sydney Ferries or private water transport. For full details visit the Venues section of this website.
I’m taking my family (including young children) to the Biennale of Sydney. Where can I find information to help plan my visit?
The Biennale puts on numerous family friendly programs during the exhibition. For details visit the Planning your visit section of this website.
How do I make a group booking?
Group booking information can be found under the Group visits section of this website. Please note that there are different requirements for each of the main venues of the 18th Biennale.
Do Biennale venues offer accessibility?
The Biennale of Sydney aims to make the exhibition as accessible to as many people as possible. Universal access symbols are used throughout the website and Biennale Guide to indicate the services and facilities available at venues.

Can I take photos of the works?
Each Biennale venue has different regulations regarding the photography of works and we recommend that you check with each venue directly to confirm as rules may differ for various exhibitions, artworks and spaces. Generally, photography is allowed at both Cockatoo Island and Pier 2/3. At the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, photography is permitted without a flash. No photography is permitted at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Pier 2/3 is currently managed by Arts NSW. To enquire about hiring Pier 2/3 please contact Arts NSW directly.
How do I get my artwork in the Biennale of Sydney?
The Biennale of Sydney does not formally call for proposals or submissions from artists wishing to participate. Participation and selection is made solely at the discretion of the Artistic Directors and within the parameters of the exhibition theme.
